Pilates – A Beginner’s Guide

If you are interested in doing Pilates but want to find more information, then you have come to the right place! This is my story and experience of entering the world of Pilates, and how – in my opinion – the best way to get the best out of the fitness routine.

I have been interested in Pilates for a number of years, after some of my friends took classes or bought exercise DVDs at home. You can join pilate classes in Long Island to become more fit.

The main reason I became very curious was that I had heard that making posture, flexibility, and core strength was amazing. As a woman almost 6 feet tall, I have never had good posture or flexibility, so I was really interested.

My first step into this strange new world was to buy a Pilates exercise DVD that had been recommended by several friends and family members. It was a very good purchase and introduced me to the type of movement involved in this German-born discipline.

However, I feel that exercising at home is not so much fun, I guess I don't have the self-motivation needed to push hard and really get good training.

Also, I realized that if I made one of the wrong moves, I could make myself more dangerous than good, and until I was trained by a professional, I decided to stop trying to teach myself!

So, after a few years of procrastinating and telling myself that I couldn't afford it, I got a little email from my local natural therapy center saying that they would start class.
